Obituary of Harrold James Pullaw

PULLAW: Harold James Pullaw July 27, 1923 ~ February 22, 2011. It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the peaceful passing of Harold James (Ozzie) Pullaw in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 22, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Ozzie grew up in the picturesque town of Gananoque, Ontario. At the outbreak of World War II, he "joined up" and proudly served in Sicily and Italy with C Battery RCHA. Restless on returning home, he struck out for the west. He took employment with McArthur and Son Ltd. in Brandon, Manitoba, Manco Dairies and finally became CKX TV's commercial and film editor for over 33 years. It was during this time that he met Jean Mary Meadows. They married in September 1950 and were together for almost 45 years. Ozzie was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and over the years, was awarded many accolades. Other community services included the new World Theater, the J.C.'s, UCT, St.John 's Ambulance and the Lions Club. Ozzie's hobbies were varied. He loved history, stamp collecting, 10 pin bowling (to which he was elected to the Manitoba Bowling Hall of Fame), karaoke, and above all else, music. He was an accomplished pianist and for most of his life tickled peoples' hearts as he tickled the ivories. Predeceased by his wife Jean in 1995 and son-in-law; Jack Walker in 1985, he leaves to mourn, his daughter, Catherine (Minty) Caron; his granddaughter, Robyn (Derek) Barry, and his precious great-granddaughter, McKenna Barry; two sisters, Hilda (Doug) Cameron of Kingston, Ontario and Betty Beitzof of Hamilton, Ontario; niece Gwen (Ritchie) Marvin of Brandon and four generations of grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Kotecha and staff of Assiniboine Clinic for their years of caring and compassion and to the Deer Lodge Centre Tower 6 for their kindness and support. At Ozzie's request, there will not be a memorial service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Ozzie requested that donations be made to the Royal Canadian Legion or to a charity of choice.
