Emmett JacksonA memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Eugene for Emmett F. Jackson of Eugene, who died April 30 of heart disease. He was 86.He was born April 15, 1925, in Dawson, N.D., to William and Caroline Frey Jackson. He married Betty Bergman on Aug. 22, 1948, in Eugene.He graduated from Junction City High School in 1943, then served in the Army from 1943 to 1947, earning two Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart. He worked as a building contractor and worked on Autzen Stadium. He retired in 1980.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bradley of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Steven of Eugene; a daughter, Sandra Smithmeyer of Spokane; two sisters, Ellen Camenzind of Eugene and Mayola Hatfield of Salem; three brothers, Lester, Paul and Larry, all of Eugene; and five grandchildren.Inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
