Obituary of Louise Winifred Ramona Marie Vandoorne
VANDOORNE: Louise Vandoorne of Brandon, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the age of 75 years. Left to mourn her passing is her husband Rene; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Cecil and Denise and Bob, her two precious grandchildren Carli (Dan) and Shawn; a sister Faye Boychuk; sister-in-law Deb Gastonguay and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews; all of whom she loved dearly and has left them with many happy memories of their times spent together. Louise was born at Vonda, SK on August 19, 1935, the second child of Omer and Nan (Remnant) Gastonguay. Moving to Manitoba with her parents in 1937, she received her schooling at Hartney and Elgin. Upon leaving school she worked for Manitoba Telephone System at Elgin as a switchboard operator. On October 24, 1953 she married Rene Vandoorne of Heaslip. The first four winters she and Rene spent at Hillsport, ON where they both worked in a bush camp. Mom was a cookie (cooks helper). In the spring they returned to the farm. Louise took an active role on the farm and drove the grain truck for many years. In 1985, Louise and Rene retired and moved to Brandon. Mom was so happy to be near her family, and surrounded us all with unconditional love. Mom was a gifted lady with many talents, quilting, painting and sewing to mention a few. She was predeceased by her mother on November 7, 1976, her father on April 23, 1997, her sister Jeannine Keown in 2000 and her brother Fred Gastonguay in 2001. A memorial service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. with Mr. Lawrence McInnes, Brockie Donovan Funeral Celebrant, officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens
