Obituary of Kathleen "Kay" Cox

COX: Kathleen Edith "Kay" Cox of Fairview Home, Brandon passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the age of 91 years. Kay was born to William and Emma Cox on March 17, 1919 in Brandon. She attended McLaren School, St. Michael's Academy and Earl Haig School. Kay resided in Brandon all of her life. She worked as a homemaker and cared for her invalid mother for many years. She was a long time member of Knox United Church, particularly the women's groups. She was currently a member of Unit 5. Kay thoroughly enjoyed social activities with her friends throughout her lifetime. She appreciated good music, enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. Kay is survived by her cousins Betty and Norman Mayer and family of Camrose, AB, cousin Winnie Cox and family of Sarnia, ON and many adopted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Maurice Henry, Roy Hunter, Garnett Smale and Ernest Gordon Cox and parents William John Cox and Emma Pearl Cox. A Memorial Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. David Cathcart of Knox United Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Urn Bearer will be Shaun Loney. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Knox United Church Boiler/Property Fund, 451-18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5A9.
