Obituary of Leon Burt

Leon BurtA graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise for Leon Burt of Eugene, who died May 6 of age-related causes. He was 96. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise.He was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Henry and Jessie Thorpe Burt. He married Hazel Borders on July 2, 1939, in Los Angeles. She died in 2008.He attended the University of Idaho-Southern Branch (now Idaho State University) for two years. He worked summers at Roosevelt Lodge in West Yellowstone Park. He worked for 36 years for Mountain State Telephone Company in Boise and retired in 1977.Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Yorges of Eugene; a brother, LaRoy of Whidbey Island, Wash.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A son, Boe, and grandson, Burt, died previously.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Boise Elks Rehab Program.
