Obituary of Burdella Owen

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cottage Grove for Burdella Amelia Owen of Cottage Grove, who died May 7 of age-related causes. She was 100.Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.She was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Cherry County, Neb., to William and Sally Cole King. She married Eldon Owen on Nov. 29, 1927, in Cottage Grove. He died in 1975.She owned Annie Mack’s Maternity Home in Cottage Grove and baked pies for the Cottage Grove Bakery. She house-sat for area ranchers, owned and operated a commercial fishing boat out of Reedsport with her husband and helped him with logging.Survivors include a daughter, Viola Owen of Pendleton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. A son, Boyd Dale Owen, died in 1993 and a daughter, Virginia A. Hamilton, died Jan. 13, 2011.Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
