Obituary of Walter Cairns

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene for Walter “Ted” Cairns of Eugene, who died May 10 of age-related causes. He was 81.He was born May 31, 1911, in Elizabeth, Penn., to Walter and Dolly Carter Cairns. He married Florence Hein on Aug. 8, 1953, in Eugene. She died in November 2002.He served in the military as a drill sergeant at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii and in Korea. He was a service station owner and Chevron dealer.Survivors include a daughter, Linda Cairns of Bandon; a sister, Cecilia Hennigan of Eugene; a brother, Richard of Sweet Home; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
