Obituary of Elmer James Earl

EARL: Elmer James Earl, born August 9, 1919, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the age of 100 years (almost 101 years). He was recently predeceased by his wife Mae in May 2020. He is predeceased by his father James Harrison in 1973 and his mother Margaret Elizabeth in 1955; two infant sons: Grant in 1948, Mark in 1966, and a daughter, Karen, in 1959; his brothers Murray Earl and Morris Earl and sisters Evelyn Smith and Edna Martin. He is survived by his daughter Nadine Tamke (Hans Friedrich) and granddaughter Naomi Wiegers (Vincent Wiegers); great granddaughters Avoury Wiegers, Morgan Wiegers, Lea Wiegers and great grandson Max Wiegers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born at Smith Hill, Manitoba on August 9, 1919 and moved with his family to Justice, Manitoba when he was three weeks old. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery at Vancouver, British Columbia in March of 1941 and was later transferred to the South Saskatchewan Regiment overseas. He returned home with the Queens Own Highlanders of Canada in January of 1946. He married Mae Mitchell on October 19, 1946. He farmed in the Justice community from 1946 – 1994. He was interested in all aspects of farming, especially barley. After retiring, he liked to look at cars. He was a charter member of the Justice Canadian Legion and later the Brandon Legion Branch. He was a kind, easy going gentleman with a ready smile. He enjoyed talking to people and a true friendly Manitoban, as per the Manitoba license plate. He will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue, on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens; luncheon to follow at the Grace Lutheran Church.
