COTTAGE GROVE — A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the London Church near Cottage Grove for Douglas Lee “Doug” Hatton of Cottage Grove, who died May 14 of age-related causes. He was 85.He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Bakersfield, Calif., to John and Gladys Ensel Hatton. He married Betty Lou Hamilton on Sept. 2, 1948, in Eugene; she died May 25, 2005.He was a private in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a crash crew fireman in The Philippines during World War II. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a track layer in the 1950s. He was a millworker at Jones Veneer and Plywood until his retirement in the 1970s.Survivors include two sons, Dave of Cottage Grove and Ted of Springfield; a daughter, Kristi Nelson of Eugene; two brothers, Howard of Roseburg and Richard of Vancouver, Wash.; and six children and 11 great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to a local food bank.
