Obituary of Basil Thompson

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene for Basil Rue Thompson of Eugene, who died May 23 of age-related causes. He was 87. Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene.He was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Long Pine, Neb., to Fredrick and Nellie Wolford Thompson. He married Maxine Rodgers on April 5, 1947, in Junction City. She died May 8, 2011.He graduated from high school in Long Pine and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He worked in logging and millwork.Survivors include two daughters, Chris Yoder of Lebanon and Becky Reid; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
