Obituary of Alfred Newcomer
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Coburg Road Church of Christ for Alfred A. Newcomer of Dexter, who died June 2 of age-related causes. He was 86.He was born May 5, 1925, in Heron Lake, Minn., to William and Ruth Wise Newcomer. He married Betty Kerby in February 1952 in Indio, Calif.He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.He worked for Signal Landmark Properties as an agriculture manager and consultant, retiring in 1984.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of Auburn, Wash., and Ron of Dexter; two daughters, Mary Jo Abolos of Alaska and Lori Veach of Arizona; three sisters, Loris Creel of Washington, and Viola Johnson and Wilma Soggee, both of Windom, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
