Obituary of Alden Ridgeway

Alden RidgewayThe graveside inurnment service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eugene for Alden Sherwood Ridgeway of Eugene, who died June 7 of respiratory failure. He was 89.A celebration of life will follow the service at the family home.He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Stoffville, N.Y., to Alden and Grace Emma Dunbar Ridgeway. He and his wife, Ardith, were married Nov. 11, 1943, in Oakland, Calif. They divorced in 1972.He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a lineman in Maine, worked as an electrician for Republic Aviation in Hicksville, N.Y., for eight years and worked as an electrician for Macy’s until he retired at age 69.Survivors include two sons, David of Corcoran, Calif., and Michael of Fort Meyers, Fla.; a daughter, Sheri Hughes of Creswell; his domestic partner of 19 years, Dorothy Hazelton; a sister, Constance Limieux of Lewiston, Maine; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A son, Gary L. Ridgeway, died previously.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
