Obituary of Merlyn Schmidt

Merlyn Kenneth Schmidt of Creswell, died June 25, 2011 at the age of 91. Private burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Merlyn was born June 22, 1920 in Waterloo, Wisconsin to Herbert and Ella (Kunz) Schmidt.Merlyn was in the CCC when he was 20. He worked for the railroad before joining the Army in 1942. He served in the US Army from May 1942 - December 1945. After the World War II he worked for a domestic laundry and dry cleaning service. He also worked for The City of Eugene Parks and recreational Services, retiring in 1985.Merlyn enjoyed camping and hunting.Survivors include 3 daughters, Barbara McKenzie of Florence; Mary Jenkins of Springfield; and Judith Blade of Creswell; 1 sister, Dorothy Davis of Creswell; 6 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
