B. King MartinA celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. July 21 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Eugene for B. King Martin of Eugene, who died July 4 of age-related causes. He was 89.He was born on Oct. 14, 1921, in Portland to Charles and Therodosia Bennett Martin. He married Janet Bean on March 25, 1944, in Portland.He majored in architecture at the University of Oregon. He was a flight engineer for a B-29 serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. His flight crew flew over the USS Missouri for the signing of the peace agreement with Japan on VJ-Day. He received the distinguished flying cross. He joined with Clare Hamlin in 1948 to form Hamlin Martin, which later became Martin Schultz & Geyer Architects. He retired in 1981.Survivors include his wife; two sons, King and Gordon, both of Eugene; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Inurnment will be at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
