Obituary of Paul Wellborn

Paul Wellborn Jr.SPRINGFIELD — A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Elmira Grange for Paul William Wellborn Jr. of Springfield, who died June 30 of Parkinson’s disease. He was 83.He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Eugene to Paul and Mildred Walker Wellborn.He enlisted in the Merchant Marine in 1945 and went to Japan. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and fought in the Korean War, where he earned a Bronze Star. He was owner-operator of Wellborn’s Automotive on Fox Hollow Road. From 1969 to 1990, he taught auto body repair at Lane Community College.Survivors include two daughters, Denise Welton of Elmira and Dawn Petersen of Canby; and four grandchildren.Remembrances to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
