Obituary of Herbert Olander

Herbert OlanderJUNCTION CITY — Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 8, at Musgrove Family Mortuary for Herbert M. Olander of Junction City, who died Aug. 3 of Parkinson’s disease at age 93.A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colo.He was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Loveland, Colo., to Martin and Olivia Svensson Olander. He married Lillie R. Newman on Oct. 3, 1942, in Albuquerque, N.M.He graduated from Erie High School in Erie, Colo. He was a sergeant in the Air Force during World War II. He took a four-year farm training course from Colorado State University. He was a farmer, worked in construction, and was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1978.Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Shirley Scott of Eugene, Vivian Rayburn of Pinewood Springs, Colo., and Judy Faris and Carol Mayhugh, both of Junction City; a brother, Herman of Longmont; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Remembrances to Bethesda Lutheran Church.
