Obituary of Lillian Esther Shapitka
Lillian Esther Shapitka, age 84, passed away August 6, 2011 in Eugene, Oregon surrounded by her loving family. Lillian’s courage and grace through her illness was an inspiration to all.Lillian was the daughter of Albert and Lydia Keim from Acme, Alberta, Canada. She was born on December 6, 1926 and married Joseph Shapitka on May 22, 1951. They made their home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada until 1967. They then lived in Owosso, Michigan until 1970 when they moved to the West Coast and made their home in Eugene.After leaving high school, Lillian took a job using her sewing talent with a hospital in Calgary. After marriage, she was her husband’s construction company bookkeeper. When they lived in Owosso, Michigan they gave of their services to the Church of God (Seventh Day) Spring Vale Academy. Lillian was always a hospitable individual. She met life head on and was full of strength and vitality. She always dealt with people with a smile and warmth that became ingrained in Lillian and stayed with her throughout her long and beautiful life.Lillian was very involved in her church, the Church of God (Seventh Day) of Eugene and was an active member since childhood. Her hobbies included sewing, canning, cooking, gardening and collecting beautiful china and china tea cups and china dolls. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.She is survived by her husband, Joseph Usten Shapitka & her sister, Violet Chalus of Eugene. Daughter and son-in-law, Vona and Harold Ogren and their grandchildren: Jerry Ogren and Lacey Ogren, of Eugene; Daughter and son-in-law Carol Shapitka-Lundgren and Paul Lundgren and her granddaughter Rebecca Lundgren, granddaughter Heather and husband Richard IV and great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Conolly and Katherine Conolly of Bakersfield, California; grandson Scott & wife Teleea Lundgren and great-grandchildren: Christian Lundgren and Landon Frantz Lundgren of Portland, Oregon. Her son Oran and daughter-in-law Sandy Shapitka and grandsons Ryan Shapitka, Justin Shapitka, and Derrick Shapitka of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Plus many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother Marvin Keim (2006) and sister Elvira Allen (2008).Visitations will be on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Murphy Musgrave Funeral Home, 480 W. 7th Ave., Junction City, Oregon (541) 998-2152 and on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the Church of God (Seventh Day) at 840 Diamond Hill Rd, Harrisburg, OR. Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm at the Harrisburg Church of God (Seventh Day). Burial will be at the Church of God (Seventh Day) Cemetery in Acme, Alberta, Canada.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be given to Sis-Q Meadows Youth Camp c/o 500 Terra Linda, Eugene, OR 97404Lillian requested that all attending her service wear bright colors, reflecting the bright and beautiful flowers she loved so much.
