Obituary of Allen Coleman

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Springfield Faith Center for Allen L. Coleman Sr. of Springfield, who died July 23 of complications due to kidney failure. He was 87. A finger-food potluck reception will follow.He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Nebraska to William and Florence Chase Coleman. He married Vernice Hileman on Nov. 24, 1945, in Eugene.He worked as a logger.Survivors include his wife; a son, Allen Jr. of Eugene; four daughters, Sharon Fipps of Veneta, Christine Hatton of Springfield, Mellea Coleman of Puyallup, Wash., and Becky Guernsey of Longview, Wash.; a sister, Geraldine Collman of Veneta; a brother, Jack of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.Private inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
