Obituary of Mary Jacobson

Mary JacobsonThe funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene for Mary A. Jacobson of Eugene, who died Aug. 6 of ovarian cancer. She was 68.She was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Willmar, Minn., to I.B. and Helen Grinley Sorensen. She married Jon Jacobson on June 5, 1963, in Mason City, Iowa.She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Luther College in 1963 and a master of arts degree from the University of Oregon in 1984. She was a middle and high school teacher and worked in financial services.Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ben of Portland and Joel of Koriyama, Japan; a daughter, Karin Jacobson Brulliard of Islamabad, Pakistan; three brothers, Joel Sorensen of Richland, Wash., Steven Sorensen of St. Paul, Minn., and John Sorensen of Clear Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Ruth Younger of Chico, Calif., and Jane Bevans of Minneapolis; and three grandchildren.Private inurnment will be at Central Lutheral Columbarium. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Eugene Family YMCA or Stephen Ministries in St. Louis, Mo.
