Obituary of Kenneth Merrell

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the River Road Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Kenneth Winston Merrell of Eugene, who died Aug. 19 of cancer. He was 53.He was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Vancouver, Wash., to Robert and Janett Rasband Merrell. He married Susan Fryer on Dec. 19, 1981, in Bellevue, Wash.He attended public schools in Portland and held a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He worked as a school psychology professor at the University of Oregon.Survivors include his wife; his father; two daughters, Emily Garrett and Joanna Merrell, both of Eugene; two sons, Daniel and Ben, both of Portland; four brothers, Steven of St. Helens, Ronald of Scappoose, Melvin of Castle Rock, Wash., and David of Layton, Utah; and two grandchildren.Private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to the Kenneth W. Merrell Scholarship Fund at Utah State University.
