Edmond McNamaraA celebration of life Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sept. 2, at St. Benedict’s Chapel in McKenzie Bridge for Edmond C. “Ed” McNamara of Eugene, formerly of Blue River, who died Aug. 16 of age-related causes. He was 89.A memorial gathering is planned in October in the San Francisco Bay Area.He was born Dec. 29, 1921, in San Francisco to Austin and Inez Brown McNamara. He married Marion Smith on Aug. 13, 1959, in Carson City, Nev.He graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco in 1940 and attended San Francisco City College. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was shot down and spent time as a prisoner of war.He served as a major in the Air Force Reserve. He was a manager and salesman of business machines with Marchant, Friden and Datapoint in San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; Seattle; and Portland.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shay Walling of Larkspur, Calif., and Candace Caldwell of Lafayette, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Sacred Heart Hospice in Eugene or St. Benedict Catholic Church in McKenzie Bridge.
