Obituary of Sharon Ileen Bedford
Sheri went peacefully from the comfort of her home in Mississauga, into the presence of her Lord and Saviour at the age of 71, with family at her side. Born in Kincardine, Ontario, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ezra and Lula Stanley. She was raised on the family farm in Kinlough along with her six siblings. One thing she was proud of was her country upbringing. Her early years of schooling were in a one room country school house which she travelled to by horse. Later, she started her journey to becoming teacher, attending Teachers College and Wilfrid Laurier University. For many years she did what she loved best, helping young children discover a passion for learning, especially reading and music, while providing a loving and positive environment for her kindergarten students. Her own children were always her priority. She set teaching aside for several years to raise her daughters Ashley and Karlee, and returned to the classroom once they were older. She was a dedicated member of her church and enthusiastic volunteer who will be remembered for many things; however, she would want to be remembered mostly for her faith and love of her Lord Jesus Christ. She only knew one way to love; unconditionally and without judgement or criticism. She never gave thought to the time or cost of her support and generosity, and had no expectations of receiving anything in return. This was the gift Sheri’s family received every day from her. It was also extended to friends, acquaintances, and to anyone she came in contact with. In every family there is a need for someone to be the glue that holds everything and everybody together, to ensure that no one gets left out, and anyone in need gets help. Sheri was that special someone. She was the proud Nanna to Beckett, Lincoln and Brooks, and was happiest when surrounded by them. When they weren’t around, she could be found face-timing them, often reading them bedtime stories. She was a celebrator of all occasions, competitive, passionate, free-spirited, committed, loyal, a light in the darkness, faithful, positive, gifted, enthusiastic, an avid reader and book club organizer, optimistic, generous, the sun on a cloudy day, the moon on a dark night, and lover of all colours as long as they were YELLOW. Sheri leaves behind a large extended family including sister Beverley and brothers Leonard, Floyd and Arthur. She was predeceased by brothers Douglas and Larry. She is survived by Tony, her husband of 49 years, daughters Ashley and Karlee, and grandsons Beckett, Lincoln and Brooks.Loved by so many, she, with her beautiful infectious smile, will be deeply missed. Her family sincerely thanks the wonderful health care teams at Credit Valley Hospital, and the home care providers; Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network, and Care Partners for the loving care she received. The family is also thankful for the encouragement and support she received from her church community. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to honour Sheri’s memory, the family would kindly ask you to consider a donation to Sick Kids Hospital so future generations of kids can receive treatment, similar to the lifesaving care her grandson Lincoln received at 3 months old.
