Obituary of Charles Allwander
Charles H. “Chuck” Allwander of Eugene died Sept. 7 of age-related causes. He was 93. A private graveside service is planned at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.He was born April 17, 1918, in Rheine, Saskatchewan, Canada, to William and Katherine Koch Allwander. He married Martha Strohmaier on April 10, 1948, in Vancouver, Wash.He served in the Army as a captain in the 104th Timberwolf. He worked as general manager for Pitchford Mack Sales and, in 1960, he founded Chuck’s Truck Repair. He operated that business until his retirement.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bob of Eugene and Larry of Hoover, Ala.; a daughter, Barbara Sprague of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Charlie Allwander, died in 2008, and a grandson, Erik Allwander, died previously.Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene.Remembrances to Eugene Mission.
