Obituary of Joyce Adele Frehs
Joyce Frehs was born on November 7th, 1947 in Toronto, Ontario to Royal (Roy) Charles King and Corrine Naomi McNay. She was the third child of four, with 2 brothers and a sister; Bonita, Ronald, and Douglas. Joyce graduated from Etobicoke Collegiate where her father was a school board trustee. She met and married the love of her life Dennis Frehs on October 25th, 1969. Their family was completed with the birth of their two children, Diana Mildred Frehs (Reid) and Douglas William George Frehs. Joyce completed her post graduate studies in dental hygiene, spending her career as a dental educator with Halton Region.Joyce’s favourite activities were supporting her children Diana and Douglas on soccer fields and in ice rinks while ensuring her house was clean and organized, in fact, spotless and orderly. Lovingly known as “Lucy Laundry”, every item in the Frehs’ home was labelled, laundered, ironed and folded. Joyce enjoyed late night TV, music and scrapbooking. Joyce valued her time with her family and friends and could always be found with perfect hair, a cigarette and a diet coke….and a clean sink. Her true joy came later in life with the birth of her 5 grandchildren, Quentin Reid, Jayden Frehs, Briar Frehs, twins Lauren and Mya Reid, and the addition of her children’s spouses Robert Reid and Marjie Carnahan.Joyce passed peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with her daughter Diana by her side. Joyce is reunited with her beloved Dennis who passed away March 8th, 2014. She is survived by her brothers Ronald and Douglas King, her children Diana Reid (Robert Reid) and Douglas Frehs (Marjie Carnahan) and her grandchildren Quentin (Q), Lauren and Mya Reid, and Jayden and Briar Frehs.Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be no formal service at this time. The family gathered for a small celebration of her life.Found in Joyce’s belongings in her handwriting was the following quote,“Some people come into our lives and quietly go,Some stay for a while and leave footprints in our hearts,And we are never the same again”In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to either:It was Joyce and Dennis’ wish for the grandchildren to attend post-secondary institutions Education fund of her grandchildren Quentin, Jayden, Briar, Lauren and Mya.Should you wish to contribute to the post-secondary education of the grandchildren, please make a check payable to Diana Reid with "Education Fund" clearly noted in the memo.
