Joyce Frehs was born on November 7th, 1947 in Toronto, Ontario to Royal (Roy) Charles King and Corrine Naomi McNay. She was the third child of four, with 2 brothers and a sister; Bonita, Ronald, and Douglas. Joyce graduated from Etobicoke Collegiate where her father was a school board trustee. Their family was completed with the birth of their two children, Diana Mildred Frehs (Reid) and Douglas William George Frehs. Joyce completed her post graduate studies in dental hygiene, spending her career as a dental educator with Halton Region.Joyce’s favourite activities were supporting her children Diana and Douglas on soccer fields and in ice rinks while ensuring her house was clean and organized, in fact, spotless and orderly. Lovingly known as “Lucy Laundry”, every item in the Frehs’ home was labelled, laundered, ironed and folded. Joyce enjoyed late night TV, music and scrapbooking. Joyce valued her time with her family and friends and could always be found with perfect hair, a cigarette and a diet coke….and a clean sink. Her true joy came later in life with the birth of her 5 grandchildren, Quentin Reid, Jayden Frehs, Briar Frehs, twins Lauren and Mya Reid, and the addition of her children’s spouses Robert Reid and Marjie Carnahan.Joyce passed peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with her daughter Diana by her side.
