Obituary of Berlindo Bibat
Berlindo Bermisa Bibat ObituaryJanuary 25, 1959 – October 15th 2020Berlindo Bibat, loving brother, uncle and son returned to his heavenly home on Thursday October 15th, 2020. Berlindo, also known as “Uncle” age 61 was a good man. Born on January 25th, 1959 in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines. Berlindo survived by his three sisters Emilyn Aduca, Luzviminda Coffman, Marilou Bibat, Leovy Bibat. Preceded in death his mother Marcelina Bermisa, father Mauro Bibat, and brother Rosel Bibat. When Berlindo was 20 years old, he moved to Canada with his sister Marilou, he resided with his younger sister Marilou Bibat for over 50 years. Over those years, like any brother sister relationships they had their ups and downs but nothing would stop their strong bond, from sneaking out to swim in the lake back home, to going out dancing at the CN Tower. Berlin knew how to have a good time. He was a simple man whom never had expectations of anyone, he always put others first, was quiet, but can certainly be loud when he needs to be. He was not shy with his love for food, but did not like to be told to eat, or to eat more. Though when he ate, he would eat. Berlindo’s palate was like no other he was open to many foods and combining everything together, though no meal was complete with out rice. Breakfast, lunch or dinner it was a meal requirement. Berlindo cared deeply about his family, even when he had nothing to give he would offer the very little that he did have. From pocket change to pudding cups, he ensured you were never left with nothing. Berlindo had the great opportunity to not only be a loving brother and son, but to take the role as “Uncle”. An uncle is a blessing, it means so many things, words can never express the joy an uncle brings. Survived by is nephews Anthony Punzalan, Jonathan Punzalan and Michael Punzalan. Uncle was exactly that, an uncle. Uncle was known for his humble, kind, caring, and funny demeanor. With memories of him riding his bike to the local store to buy a pack of cigarettes or some coke-cola to planting in the garden, drinking coffee on the front porch on a summer’s day, to listening to the radio. Berlindo showed them how the simple things in life can be the most peaceful things. He loved watching movies but was not able to stay awake to watch a whole one, countless times he would fall a sleep the movie theatres, or couch. Then he would get upset if you woke him up because he was snoring too loud. Berlin was no stranger to fashion and truly had a passion for cologne. It was important for him to smell nice, and look presentable. Sometimes that meant changing outfits over three times a day, resulting in a lot of laundry. He had a sense of style, that no one can replicate. Berlin took fashion tips from no one, his signature look consisted of yellow shorts, a pink sweater, black toque, grey socks and his green and yellow squeaky flip-flops. Berlindo was a lot of things to many people, he had a way of leaving a positive impression on everyone he met. One word that resonated was strength; As Mahatma Ghandi said “Strength does not come from physical capacity it comes from imdomitable will” that is what Berlindo embodied. Uncle was an active man he was no stranger to working out, and enjoyed lifting weights. He enjoyed it so much he wouldn’t know when to stop, he would work out until his arms and back would hurt. The family would have to hide the weights from him otherwise he wouldn’t stop. For everyone who has had the pleasure to meet Berlindo they have nothing but kind words, and funny stories to share. A loving brother, son and uncle will be deeply missed. He has touched the hearts of those who have known him briefly to those who have spent their whole lives with him. Berlindo Bibat has left an imprint on many hearts, and will be missed but never forgotten.
