Obituary of Eva Moon Godwin
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Eva J. Moon Godwin of Springfield, who died Sept. 13 of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 89. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.She was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Lockney, Texas, to Benjamin and Mary Knight Mudgett. She married James Moon Sr. on July 9, 1943, in Bremerton, Wash. He died Nov. 9, 1977.She married Virgil Godwin on March 29, 1986, in Springfield. He died July 11, 1992.She graduated from Albany High School in 1941. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary and office manager for most of her working life.Survivors include two daughters, Eva Nyburg of Springfield and Judith Bagley of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, James Moon Jr. of Lindsay, Okla., and Patrick Moon of Springfield; a stepson, Philip Moon of Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Inez Clendenen of Safford, Ariz., and Joan Prosise of Grants Pass; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A stepson, Dee Moon, died Nov. 20, 1980; a daughter, Carolyn Parks, died Sept. 6, 1975; and a grandson, Philip Moon Jr., died March 10, 2001.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
