Obituary of Zora Micic
It is with great sorrow that the family of Zora Micic announces her passing at Mississauga Hospital at the age of 84. Zora passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 13 at Mississauga Hospital with her beloved daughter Dragana by her side, holding her hand.Zora was the loving mother of Dragana and “Baka” to Gemma. Born in Bileca, Bosnia & Herzegovina, to Rosa Seslija (Stijacic) and Jovan Seslija. She was predeceased by her brothers Radovan, Milovan and Slobodan and sisters Radjojka and Nada, all of whom passed away in Europe. Zora cherished her family of three brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. While growing up in Sarajevo, Zora’s wit and charm served her well for many years working at Energoinvest until immigrating to Canada with her adoring daughter, Dragana, in 1970. For many, arriving in Toronto as a single mother, would be too daunting a challenge to take on. For Zora, the drive to build a life for her and her daughter kept her moving forward, working at Sola Canada and taking on multiple jobs at Delta Hotels and The Boulevard Club and always maintaining her sense of humor and zest for life. Often that zest for life was on display as she danced and sang to her many favorite songs. She enjoyed the loving friendship of her many family and friends, and was widely respected and loved by all who met her.Toronto was her home and she proved it as a super fan of the Maple Leafs never giving up hope of a Stanley Cup win while watching every game with one of her beloved dogs Sasha, Bailey or Gemma by her side. She also loved the Toronto Raptors. Kyle Lowry aka "Mali" (little one) her all time favorite player. Zora is warmly remembered by many family and friends in Canada, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Denmark and Spain. Her friends would call her kind, loyal and generous. Lovingly remembered as a woman who opened her heart to many. They would also call her an accomplished prankster, laughing with her as she unveiled her latest practical joke. Zora was certainly a beloved mother, sister, Tetka, Baka to her dogs, and friend. She loved to cook, bake, garden and spend time with her dogs.Throughout the life of this hard working, kind hearted treasured woman, nothing was more important or brought Zora more joy then her daughter Dragana. Her legacy of kindness will live on not only through her daughter but to the many who reaped the rewards of her generous soul. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful doctors , nurses and staff at Chartwell, The Westbury Long Term Care Home and The Mississauga Hospital. Their warm and patient care for Zora during the past 4 years was deeply touching and very much appreciated.Funeral Services will take place on October 17, 2020 at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, Oakville, ON.
