Obituary of Jayantilal Vithaldas Hathi

Jai Shree KrishnaIt is with deep regret and great sadness that we wish to inform you of the peaceful passing of Jayantilal Hathi on Saturday October 10, 2020 in Brampton Ontario at the age of 85.He was the son of Vithaldas and Maniben and son in law to Amratlal and Muktaben Chotai and dear brother to Santaben Lakhani and Late Maghanlal and Late Savithaben Karia.Jayantilal loved Hemlata (Chotai of Mombasa Kenya) his wife and life partner for over 61 years. They spent every moment together and were never apart. They raised 4 lovely children, Ketan (Neeta), Daxa (Vijay Ghelani), Kaushal (late Krista) and Nilesh (Lucie). He loved his 6 grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face, Yashna, Kalpesh, Anisha, Kshamina, Alisha and Ainesh.Jayantilal born in Kamuli, and settled in Iganga and Bugiri, Uganda. He married Hemlata in 1959 and began their journey of a lifelong loving partnership. Jayantilal was devoted to his family and raised his children through challenging times with love and dedication. When the family was exiled from Uganda in 1972 and immigrated to Canada, his calm personality got his family through this challenging ordeal. Jayantilal always led by example, he worked 16 hours a day, alongside Hemlata in order to give their children an education and put them on a path to success. At the same time he went to night school to get a Stationary Engineer’s licence and worked at Truefoam for 24 years. Jayantilal was very creative and handy, and he taught those skills to all of his children. He and Hemlata learned and did all their own home renovations. He also never came across any machinery he could not fix. Their home was always a gathering place for family and friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to friends and neighbours. Jayantilal loved his technology, from buying the first VCR for community movie nights in Fredericton to mastering the computer and iPhone.Since his retirement he had become a world traveller. Together they have travelled to Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia, including their annual trips to India. One of their most favourite trips was right here in their new home, they drove across Canada from Fredericton to Victoria creating lasting memories.Later in life he loved the family reunions at a cottage and playing games with his children and grandchildren.Jayantilal always said “I HAD A GOOD LIFE”He will be remembered for his comforting voice, his welcoming smile but mostly for his everlasting love for Hemlata. In light of the current situation re: COVID-19 pandemic, and in the interest of the health of the community members, the Funeral Service will be for immediate family only.Aum Shanti…Shanti…Shanti…As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario the attendance at the funeral and cemetery is restricted to 30% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintainedRespecting the current situation and pandemic building restrictions, all services will be held for invited guests only.
