Obituary of Thrity Madon
Thrity Madon, wife of late Russy Madon, mother of Khurshed Madon, Hutokshi Madon and Kermin Byramjee, mother-in-law to Sharon Madon and Marzi Byramjee, sister to Asad Talati, Freni (deceased), Keki (deceased) and Perviz (deceased) passed away peacefully, in Oakville on Friday October 9,2020. She created wonderful memories that will be cherished by her 5 grandchildren (Roshni, Deenah, Chilina, Rhea and Cyrus) and 7 great grandchildren (Maleena, Sofia, Miah, Oliver, Farah, Leo and Arun), along with her extended family and friends from around the world.Thrity was born in Zanzibar on April 11, 1932. She attended Saint Joseph’s Convent School in Zanzibar and married her late husband Russy in 1949. Thirty was an active member of her community, ran a catering business, and taught at a Women’s Co-operative. She was an advocate for equality and supported the emancipation of African women. She also worked at the Zanzibar Mint and made lifelong friends along the way. In 1994, Thrity and Russy joined their daughter Kermin and her husband Marzi, in Canada, where Thrity spent her days supporting the family with care and love. She was often found crafting - whether it was painting, sewing or creating african themed art - a reminder of her days in Zanzibar.She will be dearly missed and has left us with so many fond memories.Due to COVID and social distancing requirements, the Funeral will be a small private service.
