Obituary of David Adams

David Manning ADAMS P.Ag. Dist., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 92.He and his wonderful wife, Renee, were married for 68 years and they had four children: Cynthia of Calgary, Peter (Beth) of Priddis AB, Holly of Whistler BC and Barbara (Bob) of Sudbury ON. Their six grandchildren are: Téo, Aaron, Megan, Christine, Ariel and Daine (deceased).The family were avid campers and travellers all across Canada.Following an early start at agricultural extension and animal husbandry teaching, Dave worked 38 years for the Canadian Meat Council, spending the last dozen (1981-1993) as General Manager.He was involved with many agricultural organizations and was a devoted alumnus of the Ontario Agricultural College of the University of Guelph. He served as class president of OAC ’49, and president of the OAC Alumni Association and Foundation. He was also president of the U. of Guelph Alumni Association and served on the Senate as well as two terms on the Board of Governors. He was presented the Alumni Volunteer Award in 1999.For his work with the Canadian 4H Council, he was awarded the Queen’s Medal in 1992 and 2002. He was proud to receive Honorary Life Memberships in the Canadian Society of Animal Science and the Canadian Society of Extension.Above all, David will be remembered as a gentleman with a kind smile who was always ready to look for the best in a person or find the positive side of a situation. Whether you called him brother, Dad, Granddad, Papa, Grampy, Uncle or Friend, we were all lucky to have known him.The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the love and care shown to David by the staff at Parkland on the Glen, the palliative nurses of CalaCare and Acclaim Health, Linda Ryan, and a special thank you to Dr. Christina Lee at Credit Valley Hospital.A private family service will be held.
