Obituary of Rob Hopper
HOPPER, Robert WIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert W. Hopper, at the age of 73, on Sunday, September 27, 2020. Born on April 6, 1947 In Kentville Nova Scotia, Rob was a very proud and adoring son to his mother, Margaret Mary (née Humble) who predeceased him December 17, 2009.Rob had a cottage in Maclarens Landing for many years, it was there he had long lasting friendships with people who treated him as their family and, he, always cherished those memories. Rob had a long and dedicated career in the Federal Government with Public Works Canada. He was keen on teaching others, and always open to upgrading and taking courses to increase and share his knowledge. Rob had many awards, and acknowledgments throughout his career. He was a true leader. In the early years Rob joined the F4 series of racing school. Throughout this life he would rarely miss watching an F1 race!In 2003 Rob joined the Ottawa Hunt Club. He enjoyed taking golf lessons and practicing as often as possible to try and perfect his game. It was there he met many members who he laughed with, competed and just enjoyed the simple camaraderie. He equally enjoyed the great staff at the OHC who we know always treated Rob with kindness and respect. Special thanks to the staff at the West End Villa, especially Remi (RN), and Joanna (PSW), for their care and kindness. A small private service will take place at his final resting place at the Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery. Donations in Rob’s honour can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Alzheimer Society.
