Milagros Leaper

Obituary of Milagros Lara Leaper

It is with great sadness that we announce Milagros “Mila” Lara Leaper passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House on September 26, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Loving mother to her daughter Vanessa (Kevin), loving grandmother to Lily and predeceased by her grandson Kameron. Mila immigrated to Canada in 1969 and became a registered nurse before retiring at the age of 55.She had a strong faith with the Lord and was very close to her church family at Kingsview Free Methodist Church. She loved travelling and being with her family and friends. She was always friendly and inviting and took the time to get to know you and welcome you with open arms. She was the best “bad leg” grandma to her only granddaughter who was her pride and joy. Spending the last 5 months together in her daughter’s home was such a blessing to all of them. She was always true to herself and her beliefs and was not afraid to tell people how it is. In Filipino, she was “makulit” (her way of showing her care & concern). She’s one of the strongest women we know and was independent to a fault. She loved shopping especially for designer bags but was incredibly generous to all around her.She was greatly loved by her family and loved all of her sibling’s grandchildren like they were her own. She leaves behind her sisters and brothers Tessie (Emm), Elvie (Joe), Boy (Lyla), Cesar (Connie) and many nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews. She was always there to listen to our problems, grievances and offered advice even if unsolicited. She will be greatly missed. Our family would like to thank the staff at Ian Anderson House for their compassionate care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mila Leaper to Ian Anderson House, in Oakville or Kingsview Free Methodist Church, in Etobicoke. As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario the attendance at the funeral and cemetery is restricted to 30% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintained.Respecting the current situation and pandemic building restrictions, a Service will be held for invited guests only.Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory during their time in the funeral home or cemetery.
