Obituary of Aldon Clive Colin McFarlane

Aldon Clive Colin McFarlane, predeceased by his father, Hugh (Jack) McFarlane and his mother, Grace McFarlane (nee McGann) was born on August 6, 1936. He grew up with his maternal grandparents Joseph and Matilda McGann. Al attended Kingston Technical High School. He apprenticed with Masterton Co in Kingston Jamaica with his uncle Homer. Al migrated to Toronto Canada in 1967 where he worked as a millwright well past his retirement age. He went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday August 25, 2020.Along with his beloved wife Margaret, he leaves to mourn four children, Richard (Sharon) Denise (Chris) Mark, and his Princess Yannique Williams (O’Brien), grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves seven brothers, Keeble (Hortense), Barrington (Barry Barbara Bev), Trevor (Beverly), Maurice, Arthur (Annette), Louis (Yvette) and Gerald (Gerry) (Donya), three sisters, Grace (Byron) (Jackie) Pauline (Fabian) and Jennifer (Patrick), several nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends here and abroad. While living in Kingston, Al played cricket for a short time with Kensington Cricket Club as a spin bowler. At family get-togethers Al would regale all with funny witticisms. Al was family oriented as he always kept in touch with his siblings helping where he could with whatever the need was. He was brought up in a Christian home where he learned how to become a child of God. Later in life he gave himself to preaching whenever he got the opportunity. After retirement, Al became sought after as a singer. On my last visit to Jamaica in May 2018, Al and Barry sang a duet one Sunday morning at Mandleville Bible Chapel. The family would keep in touch regularly by phone when they would remind each other of the times they shared together when they were younger.Al will be greatly missed by “his Maggie”, his mother-in-law Margaret, children, grand children and great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, cousins and friends.Cremation has taken place.A Private Celebration of Life will be held at the Bridlegrove Bible Chapel, 2575 Pharmacy Avenue, (At Finch Avenue) Scarborough, Ontario M1W 2K2, on October 3, 2020 at 10:45 am.
