Obituary of Lucille Barkovic

A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Springfield Memorial Gardens for Lucille Roselie Becken Barkovic of Springfield, who died Sept. 26 of age-related causes. She was 93. A celebration of life will follow from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Barkovic home.She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Spooner, Minn., to Siguart and Marie Becken. She married John “Jack” Barkovic on Jan. 27, 1940, in Reno, Nev. He died Dec. 13, 2010.She graduated from high school in Bemidji, Minn., and attended St. Cloud State and the University of Oregon, where she received a bachelor’s degree. She worked as a teacher for two years, as a librarian at the Eugene Public Library for 19 years, and was a homemaker.Survivors include a son, Daniel of Eugene.Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
