Obituary of Maria Da Conceicao Soares

It is with great sadness that we announce that Maria Da Conceicao Soares, nee Ferriera passed peacefully on Thursday morning, August 27, 2020 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON. in her 84th year after a long illness. Maria leaves her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Antonio Botelho Soares. Loving mother of Filomena (husband Donald) and sadly predeceased by her dearly loved son Luis (wife Cindy). Cherished grandmother (Vavo) of 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Adam, Maggie and Mitchell and 2 great-grandchildren, James and Sophie. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Filomena Thorndyke and Isabel Carreiro and her brothers Luis (predeceased) and Jose Ferriera (predeceased) her nieces and Nephews Luis, Jorge, Debra, Susy, Carol, Bobby, Kathy, and Michael as well as her extended family and friends here and abroad. Anyone having the pleasure of meeting Maria in person would remember her always by her vibrant personality and love for her family, leaving an imprint on your heart. She will be deeply missed by all.Maria was born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores and married Antonio Botelho Soares. They immigrated to Canada (Streetsville) with their children Filomena and Luis and immediately built their life here.Maria’s focus was always her family and to help support her family she worked for many years as a housekeeper at The Mississauga Hospital and subsequently retired. A heartfelt thank you to the team of Health care providers and friends that made Maria comfortable on a daily basis and able to remain at home for as long as possible and in particular her daughter Filomena and dear friend Diane Xavier for their exceptional care over the last several years.As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario the attendance at the funeral and cemetery is restricted to 30% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintained.Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory during their time in the funeral home or cemetery.Respecting the current situation and pandemic building restrictions, a Service will be held for invited guests only.At this time we ask that you kindly join our family via live stream by clicking on the following link on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 at 2:15 p.m. https://www.distantlink.com/DLM1.htmlPassword: Arbor2020Condolences can be offered through the online guestbook.
