Obituary of Linda Power

“What the world needs now is love, sweet love.” -Jackie Deshannon.Linda Carol Power (nee Walter) passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning of August 26, 2020, at the age of 70. Loving wife of 52 years to Douglas Power, daughter of Mervin Walter and Madeleine (nee Verrette), mother of Tracey, Jason (Carlene), Sara (Mike), Amy (Paul), Erin (Richard) and Sam (Stephanie). Grandmother to Liam (Amber), Emily, Michaela and Olivia, and great-grandmother to Brock, Madeline, Parker and Owen. Sister to Shelley Walter and Nancy Walter (Michael). Linda will be missed by countless family and friends across Canada and the US. Linda was a beloved foster mother of 25 years through the Children’s Aid Society of Prescott-Russell and Valoris for children and adult community, as well was a disability advocate. Special thanks to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Civic Hospital and their home care teams. A chapel service will be held at Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery on Wednesday, September 2nd at 11:00a.m. following the service Linda will be laid to rest. For those who with to attend the funeral, a registration must be made by calling the funeral home 613-692-1211. Afterwards everyone is welcome to meet at 3275 McCarthy road, unit 24, for food and reminiscing. Parking will be available on McCarthy road and at the Metro across the street. The family wishes that donations be made in her honour to the Heart and Stroke foundation or towards cancer research.
