Obituary of Herman Dukhedin-Lalla
On August 27th, 2020 at around 10am Herman Dukhedin-Lalla, loving husband and father of six children, passed away at age 86 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital due to complications with his lungs. Herman was born on August 26th, 1934 in Siparia, Trinidad and Tobago to Samuel and Dorothy Dukhedin-Lalla, one of eighteen siblings. On September 15th, 1951, he married Mary Elcina Lutchman. They raised six children, four daughters, Patricia, Ophelia, Elizabeth, Leisl and two sons, Herman Jr, and Ryan. He migrated to Canada in the 1990’s.Herman had a passion for politics and for the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago, of which he was a life-long member. He was an elder in the church for many years. While he never finished high school, he was a self- taught man who was an avid reader with a keen sense of business. He worked at many jobs including dairy farming, chicken farming, teaching at a half-way school for young boys and finally retiring after operating a successful Roti-Shop in Arima, Trinidad.Herman was preceded in death by his father, Samuel, and his mother, Dorothy, his siblings, Hanna, Stephen, Jane, Rhoda, Margaret, Aaron, Moses, James, and his two sons-in-law, Gabriel Carter and Tack Aquing, and his grandchild, Christopher Carter. He is survived by his wife Mary and his six children, Patricia, Ophelia, Elizabeth, Leisl, Herman Jr, Ryan, his grandchildren, Allan, Alicia, Yosand, Cindy, Yvan, Alejandro (Mackie), Ashley, Amanda, Patrick and Elcina, his daughters in-law Susan (nee Yu), Carina (nee Bushko) and future son-in-law Paul Beakman, his great grandchildren Leneah and Louella Carter, Aava Headley, and granddaughters-in-law Louise Carter and Natalie Lutchmansingh.As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, the attendance at the funeral and cemetery is restricted to 30% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintained.Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory during their time in the funeral home or cemetery.
