Obituary of Patricia M.A. Clarke
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Mae Annie Clarke (nee Glassford) on the 20th day of August 2020, in her 79th year, at Scarborough General Hospital. Predeceased by her parents Samuel and Edna Glassford (nee Russell). Devoted and loving mother to Jim (Karen) and Nicole (David); Pat dedicated everything to her family. Dear and cherished sister to Dave (Janet), Jim (Lynn), Sandra Lee (Ron) and Donna (the late Michael). The wonderful "Aunt Pat" will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Heather, Rod, Melanie, Ron, PJ, Katie, Patrick, Conor, and Emily, all of whom she loved to spoil. Pat had a fantastic creative spark that she fostered in everyone she met and was fully possessed of the "Weird and wonderful light that comes from the Glassford Ladies" as her niece put it. She inspired future generations with her love for life as a long-time Elementary School Teacher. Her retirement was filled with many activities: she became a certified Sumi-e (Japanese Brush Painting) artist, and spent her time with Bridge, Quilting, Gardening, attending the National Ballet, and of course, following Coronation Street. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be scheduled at a later date. Details will follow. Pat's final resting place will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Scarborough. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada or to your local food bank would be appreciated by the family. One of her favourite quotes (paraphrased) from the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. "When I am old I shall wear purple and learn to spit ..."Online condolences may be left for the family by clicking on the GUESTBOOK TAB above.
