Obituary of Verna Marie Alfonzo

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Verna Marie Alfonzo (nee Steward) at the age of 87 on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on July 6, 1933. Proud mother of 10 children; five daughters, Linda, Barbara (Arthur Williams), Joanne, Dr. Anna (Dr. Max Dahele), Dr. Annette (Professor Bryne Ngwenya); five sons Ian (Jill), Peter, Johnny (Marcia), Dennis (Sharlene), Keith. Loving grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 5. Sister-in-law to Lorraine Steward. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by her granddaughter Krysta Williams, brother David “Skippy” Steward, sister Jeannette Steward.Verna or “Mom” by most was a Remarkable woman. She was the matriarch of the family. Always enjoyed family visits at her home in Mississauga or travelling to see loved ones. Mom’s spirit touched and inspired so many people throughout her life.In memoriam donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Canada is appreciated.
