Obituary of Amy Robin Victoria Douglas
Amy Robin Victoria Douglas, 37, passed away suddenly on August 18, 2020 in Haliburton, Ontario surrounded by loved ones.Amy was born November 15th, 1982 in Mississauga, Ontario to Wendy, a British immigrant, and Paul, a country boy moved city. They met in Mississauga, got married, and started their family with Amy as their first born child.Amy was active in Girl Guides as a youth and played softball for many years. She spent as much time as possible in Haliburton, as she loved wildlife and outdoor life. Fishing for lake trout up north was the one thing she loved to do most in the world.Though early life was not always the easiest for Amy, she made deep and lasting connections with a few friends at school which carried on to the day of her passing. She graduated from Erindale Secondary School and attended Humber Post-Secondary, where she received a diploma in Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism.Amy really came into her own as an adult and made further lasting connections everywhere she went. Amy had a few long term jobs prior to KMH Labs, but it was there that she truly found a home away from home. She spoke of her co-workers fondly and was deeply committed to her job.Amy had a strong sense of love for family and friends and showed it often. She had a heart of gold and was genuinely a sweet soul. She always thought of others needs ahead of her own, often to the detriment of herself. Every time her family saw her, she would always have some sort of trinket, clothing item or some sort of thoughtful gift for each person. She knew and remembered important details of those close to her. She never let a birthday, graduation, etc. of those close to her pass without reaching out with a personal message. She was the pillar of the family, keeping us all connected and pushing us to keep our connections strong. It is impossible to sum up in words the impact Amy had on those around her. She leaves a large hole in the world and we hope that the memories she has made with others will help to fill in even a small part of that hole. She’ll be missed deeply but never forgotten, we’ll remember and cherish her forever.Amy is survived by her parents, her two brothers and their spouses, her Nan, Niece and many Aunts, Uncles & Cousins. The family has set up a GoFundMe to assist with Funeral & Memorial expenses https://gf.me/u/ytmmtdIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Amy’s honour.Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada110-1525 Carling AvenueOttawa, ON, K1Z 8R91-877-882-2582donorinfo@heartandstroke.ca
