Maria Luisa (Malou) Mejia, 1945 - 2020The Mejia family is heartbroken to announce that Malou passed away suddenly on August 19, 2020 in Mississauga ON. A graduate of St. Rita’s College of Nursing (Class of 1970), Malou came to Canada in 1972 with a group of nurses recruited from the Philippines to Twillingate, Newfoundland. Later, she moved to Toronto and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital (pediatrics) and Princess Margaret Hospital (bone marrow transplant ward), while also co-owning a nursing agency for some time, Medi-Aide Health Services.
