Obituary of George Skinner
George Francis Walter SkinnerJuly 11th, 1937 – August 8th, 2020 It is with great and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of George Francis Walter Skinner at the age of 83. Husband to Rebecca and Jacqueline (predeceased), father to Martin and Caroline, step-father to Leah, father-in-law to Todd and Brigitte, grandfather to Matthew, Hunter, and Katrina, and brother to Tony. George was born in England to parents William (Bill) and Rose in a little town called Bradninch. At sixteen, he joined the Royal Navy where he served until the late sixties when he left a life on the sea for a life in space and joined the aerospace industry. Starting that career in England, he worked for British Aerospace and Marconi before leaving the homeland for Canada where he joined SPAR Aerospace in Toronto to work on the Canadarm. Two years later he moved the family to rural Ottawa where he remained at SPAR and became a Director, later joining MDA in the same position until retirement. He loved his veggie garden, a good cigar, and he loved his family. He will be very sorely missed. *Due to COVID-19, there is a maximum attendance regulation - you must pre-register your attendance, by calling 613-692-1211.
