Obituary of Glyn Etta Ganong
A laugh, so familiar and loved, became silent on Saturday, August 15, 2020 as Glyn passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 70. The loving mother of Dylan, Brad, and the late Katy. Beloved grandmother of Ashlyn, Ethan, and Jack. Dearly loved sister of Ray (April), Elizabeth, and the late Allison. Caring aunt of Eric, Val and Sean. Fondly remembered by Stephen and the McDonald clan. Sadly missed by her devoted cousins from the Piller and Thompson families. Dear friend to many, especially Georgia, Lucila, and Sandy. Born in Saskatchewan and raised in Ontario, Glyn maintained a connection to the West. However, her love of Tobermory trumped all. Should you ever find yourself there, browse through Circle Arts and imagine Glyn trying her creative hand at weaving and macramé with a little lunch-making for scuba divers on the side. Ultimately, Oakville became her home, and her world centred around family – Dylan and Katy. More recently, breakfast at Croissant Express, time at the lakefront, or a scoot down Lakeshore were all highlights for her. Places were important, but never more important than people. She actively built relationships – with everyone! As her health declined, she struggled to keep up with those many connections, but that didn’t mean she didn’t think about everyone or lose interest in hearing about everyone. Know that if you knew Glyn, she carved time out in her day to think about you and how you were doing.Cremation has already occurred. Because of COVID regulations, the small memorial service at Glen Oaks is by invitation only. We apologize to those who would have liked to honour her at this service. You may wish to later visit her niche at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery after her ashes have been interred. The family thanks the staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and the staff at Sunrise Oakville for their much-appreciated care of Glyn.If desired, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Kids’ Health Links Foundation (https://www.kidshealthlinks.org/), the Canadian Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice. As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario the attendance at the funeral is restricted to 30% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintained.Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory during their time in the funeral home and cemetery.
