Obituary of Marie Cernik

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15 at River Road Park Annex for Marie Cernik of Eugene, who died Sept. 2 of age-related causes. She was 89. Private graveside services were to be held at Lane Memorial Gardens.She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Chicago to Herman and Marie Graf Aberle. She married Charles Cernik on June 15, 1946, in Neillsville, Wis. He died Oct. 3, 2003.She attended eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse before graduating from Neillsville High School. She worked as the deputy clerk of court in Clark County, Wis., and was a hostess for the River Road Park Senior Program.Survivors include three daughters, Carol Owens of Osseo, Minn., Kathy Engnath of Baraboo, Wis., and Susan Cernik of Eugene; a son, Douglas of Boise; a sister, Elsie Lockman of Eugene; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
