Obituary of Debra Cavell Ratz

Debra Cavell Ratz,Loving wife of the late Theodor (Ted) Ratz; they were married for 47 years; cherished mother of Christina (Chris Benner) and Elizabeth (Neal Baker). Beloved Oma of Maxwell, Madisyn Benner and Jalayne, Nolen, Rylan Baker. Beloved daughter to Edith Anne Collins and the late Wesley Earl Hammond, loving sister to Karren and the late Alfred Hamm, Dianne, and the late Gary Thompson.Debra was born on October 12th, 1952 in Toronto, Canada. She was one of three children born to Wes and Anne Hammond. She lived a comfortable life in Mimico and as a child loved to swim and play with her dolls. In her early teens she became sick but that never stopped her from trying to do what everyone else could do. She finished High School and then went to Bible College at Elim in Lima, New York. . She was brave and put herself out there no matter what anyone said. In 1972 she married the boy next door, Ted Ratz and they settled in Mississauga and had two daughters Christina and Elizabeth. Years later after raising her kids she worked with dad as a cleaner at the church and was happy to be by his side. In her later years she was a helpful caregiver to her mother and husband, which she was happy to do. Her laugh was contagious, and her big smile lit up any room that will be missed. Debra loved God and now she is with Him and Ted in Heaven. The rest of us will remember her always and one day see her again.Until we meet again, Rest in Peace Mom!Due to the pandemic and Covid 19 restrictions, a private service will be held.
