Obituary of Vera May

May, Vera “Miss Vera”It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Vera May announces her passing at the age of 97 years on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in Scarborough, Ontario. Born on April 19, 1923 in Desire District, Clarendon, Jamaica, to Alberta Campbell and later adopted by Nathan and Zipporah May. Vera attended Collington Elementary School in Clarendon and worked at the Coffee Industry Board in her early years. A humanitarian, she was a member of the Women’s Federation sewed clothing and knitted blankets to be donated to Children’s homes and Infirmaries. Vera was an amazing, intelligent and wise woman. She had an impeccable memory and a fierce love for the Lord. This was frequently demonstrated by her ability to apply and quote scripture in any situation.Forever and lovingly remembered by her children Carshena (Mimi) Fenton, Icilina (Mac) Burke, Bevin (Hards) Howe, Oniel (Collie) Howe, Clovis Howe, Angela Howe, Michael (Dizel) Howe and Leonie (Sandra) Howe, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, family, extended family and friends.Predeceased by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and children Wavel (Pengo) and Bovril (Belo) Howe. Scheduled Services Friends and family are welcome to Vera May’s viewing on Friday, August 7, 2020, between the hours of 4pm – 8pm, followed by a celebration of her life, officiated by Pastor Nelson on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10 am. The viewing and celebration service will occur at Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Ave. E, Scarborough Ontario.Internment following the service at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens, 541 Taunton Rd.
