Obituary of Sivaganga Nandakumar

Mrs. Sivaganga NandakumarSivaganga Nandakumar, known and loved by all as Ganga, attained the lotus feet of Bhagawan Baba on Tuesday, July 21st. She hailed from Colombo, Sri Lanka and was a resident of Scarborough, Ontario since 1992. The beloved wife of Nagaratnam Nandakumar, she shared his joys and sorrows for 29 years as a faithful partner and best friend. She is the youngest daughter of late Mr. C. Kanagasapapathy and late Mrs. Vivekasundari and younger sister of Mrs. Geetha (Sugumar); fondest daughter in law of Mrs. Parameswary Nagaratnam and late Mr. Nagaratnam. She is the loving sister-in-law of Mrs. Nilani (Mahendran) and Mrs. Vatsala (Sivakumaran). Ganga is the loving chithi of Nidhish and Shivvanthi; loving mami of Pradap, Nimisha, Kaavya and Shaktikan. An accomplished student and athlete at Saiva Mangaiyar Vidyalayam, she was an accomplished chartered accountant at Canada Revenue Agency since 2012. Previously, she was an auditor and an appeals officer at the Ontario ministry of revenue. She came in to the Sai fold in the late 1990s and has served Bhagawan Baba as a humble servant in various capacities as a sevadal, SSE guru, coordinator and secretary of the executive committee at the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Scarborough. Of all her positions, she delighted in teaching and caring for her SSE and band students the most. Her famous jam and cheese sandwiches were relished by both students and adults. She had the exceptional ability of remembering everyone’s birthdays and special occasions and would bring cake, snacks and desserts to celebrate them. She spent her days in constant integrated awareness of Swami and in selfless service of others. We pray that she reaches oneness with her beloved Swami. Jai Sai Ram!
