Obituary of John Simpson

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home for John Wesley Simpson of Springfield, who died Oct. 21 of age-related causes. He was 82.He was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Sutherlin to John and Anna Cole Simpson. He married Billie Steed on April 6, 1988, in Reno, Nev.He worked as a conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad for 40 years and managed motels and recreational vehicle Parks in Reno and Oakridge after retiring.Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Troedel of Yelm, Wash., Debbie Simpson of Roseburg and Lesli Traylor of Coos Bay; a stepson, Paul Perkins of Bakersfield, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Vicki Piper of Springfield; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.A daughter, Barbara Simpson, died in 1955.Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
