Obituary of Ronald James Heslegrave

Ronald James Heslegrave04 December, 195130 June, 2020Ron was born and grew up in Victoria BC. He received his BSc degree from the University of Victoria. In 1975, Ron and his wife, Jane, moved to Toronto where Ron received a PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1980. Ron had a remarkable career in the field of medical and health research, spanning over 40 years. His particular passion was⁸ research ethics. His influence and legacy lives on in many healthcare organizations in Ontario and internationally. At the time of his death, Ron held the position of Corporate Chief of Research at William Osler Health System in Peel Region.Ron was a long-time resident of York Region, and lived in Newmarket for 22 years, where he took great pleasure in being an active Scout leader and Soccer coach.Ron will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 years, Jane, his son Shaun, daughters Janessa and Amanda, son-in-law Raymond, and granddaughter Liyah. A private family memorial was held on July 8th at Taylor Funeral Home, Newmarket. A Celebration of Life for Ron’s many friends and colleagues will be held when a larger gathering is possible.
