Joseph HammertonSPRINGFIELD — Joseph R. “Joe” Hammerton of Springfield died Oct. 19 of injuries sustained in an accident. He was 51.A memorial service is planned for a later date.He was born Jan. 20, 1960, in Kingsville, Texas, to James and Mary Hetherington Hammerton.He served in the Navy aboard the USS Waddell.Survivors include his mother, now of Eugene; a sister, Jacqueline Young of Eugene; and a brother, John of Castro Valley, Calif.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
